The women of EEE hosted their annual EEE Haw event Thursday night from 6-8 p.m. in the Tiger Den in order to raise funds for their social club. EEE Haw was a fun time for all to enjoy consisting of music, snacks, games and dancing.
The night began at 6 with popcorn, cookies, lemonade and the staple southern drink, sweet tea while guests were arriving. Everyone mingled, took pictures, and played with the baby chicks until about 6:30 when the games began. Each EEE pledge class was required to provide and coordinate a game.
Pledge Class ’13’s game was dizzy-bat races. Teams of eight contestants lined up, ran across the Tiger Den, spun around on a bat ten times and had to do their best to run back to the line. This was a game that the contestants enjoyed playing and, possibly even more so, the crowd enjoyed watching.
Pledge Class ‘14’s game was a good, old-fashioned sack race, which resulted in a few falls and plenty of laughter. Pledge Class ‘15’s game was “chicken in a hen house” where everyone got a partner, circled up, and had to find their partner in the midst of chaos and perform the command called out.
Instead of Pledge Class’16 coming up with a game, they had to come up with a performance, a “mini tunes show,” if you will. They re-wrote lyrics to a few different country songs, including, “God Blessed the Broken Road,” and “House Party.” They concluded their performance with a three-part stomp. The entire show was written, choreographed and directed by members of pledge class ’16.
“My favorite part of the night was getting to perform as an EEE for the very first time. It made me super excited for Tiger Tunes,” McKenzie Gosser, a freshman business major from North Little Rock, Ark., and one of the choreographers for the performance said.
“I loved watching the new PC perform. It was bittersweet because I missed being up there and spending those fun times and memories with my pledge class, but it was also fun to see the new one bond in special ways. Plus, they did awesome!” Bekah Van Cleave, a junior Speech Pathology major from Benton Ark., and one of the EEE Social Chairs said.
EEE Haw has been an annual event for the Women of EEE social club for many years now; it is one of the club traditions. The event itself is not the only tradition. The current pledge class who has to perform, has to wear cowboy boots, overalls, and a red shirt, complete with braids and ribbons in their hair. Not only do they have to wear this to the event, but they have to wear this outfit to classes all day as a promotion for EEE Haw.
The pledge class each year puts a lot of hard work into their performance and putting on EEE Haw, and every year it is worth the hard work.
“I think it was a huge success! No one got hurt or fell during the performance, all the decorations stayed up, the popcorn was good, and the people were laughing, dancing, and having fun,” Van Cleave said.
