Tuesday night the women of EEE hosted the annual Mr. Tiger competition in the Tiger Den. Men from the student body signed up, practiced their talents and got ready to strut their stuff in order to impress the crowd in this untraditional pageant.
Contestants included Kord Offenbacker, freshman Christian Studies major from Springdale, Ark., Noah Bowman, freshman Biology major from Conway, Ark., Houston Clifton, freshman Worship Arts major from Benton, Ark., Todd Hickingbotham, freshman Business Administration major from Little Rock, Ark., Will Stotts, sophomore Musical Theatre major from Jonesboro, Ark., Evan Nelson, freshman Business Administration major from Little Rock, Ark., Ancil Lea IV, freshman Business Administration major from Conway, Ark., Sam Ferguson, freshman Business Administration major from Benton, Ark. and special contestant, Caleb Terry, junior Business Administration major from Benton, Ark.
Now, if you know Caleb Terry, you are probably aware of the fact that he is actually studying abroad in Austria for the semester, so he was not actually present. His friend and BETA brother Tanner Thomas, junior Business Administration major from Magnolia, Ark., held up a cardboard cutout of Terry and concealed his own identity for the competition.
The men competed in the following categories: formal attire, on-stage questions, active wear, and talent. A few of the on-stage questions were, “What is your favorite animal and can you impersonate it?” “Who is your male celebrity crush and why?” and “What is your dream proposal?”
Active wear included swimsuits, onesies, house shoes and crop-tops. Talents ranged from a trio made up of Offenbacker, Bowman and Clifton, singing One Direction’s “You and I,” to Lea licking his elbow, to Ferguson smashing cans and live wrestling on stage.
“They created a fun atmosphere for everyone in the room. No one is leaving bored,” Hannah Pilcher, Resident Director of Francis-Crawford Hall and one of the judges for the evening said.
“It was really fun,” freshman Bethany Lenards said. “They didn’t care if they made a fool of themselves.”
Awards for the night included “Mr. Congeniality,” which went to Ancil Lea IV, “People’s Choice,” awarded to Will Stotts, “Best Formal Attire,” awarded to Todd Hickingbotham, and “Best Talent,” given to Will Stotts. Second runner up was Houston Clifton, first runner up was Kord Offenbacker, and the new Mr. Tiger 2016 was awarded to Will Stotts.
“Honestly, it feels incredible. Totally unexpected. The competition was fierce but I feel great,” Stotts said after being crowed winner.
EEE pledge class of 2016 put a lot of work into this event. The turnout exceeded their expectations and made all the work pay off.
“There were so many more people than I expected. We almost had to pull out more chairs. I was so happy,” Jessica Shell, president of the EEE pledge class of 2016 said.
