CONWAY, Ark.- It was an interesting Tuesday night for the Ouachita men’s soccer team (5-6) this week, as they hit the road for a match-up with the Warriors of Hendrix College (7-3-1). The teams were tied at one going into halftime, but two second half goals from Ouachita’s JT Goodrum would put the Tigers over the top and seal a 3-2 victory.
Hendrix got on the board first, when Trevor Mukiza scored at the 16 minute mark of the game.
Ouachita answered the Warrior goal just about eight minutes later though, when AJ Bauckman netted the first goal for Ouachita off of a rebound, tying the game at one. Bry Goss and Connor Burke both assisted on Bauckman’s goal.
The rest of the first half expired with the score knotted up, but Hendrix would retake the lead at the 55 minute mark of the game, when Will Dunaway scored on a rebound from a penalty kick.
Ouachita again tied it up though, when Goodrum scored at the 70 minute mark off of an assist from Bauckman.
Goodrum’s final goal came with just about 10 minutes remaining in the game, as he converted to put the Tigers ahead for good.
Payam Pourjavad took four shots for Ouachita, three of which were on goal. Bauckman finished the game with two shots, both of which were on goal, plus his assist. Goodrum only took two shots in the entirety of the game, scoring on both of them. Wayne Smith recorded six saves in the net for the Tigers, playing the full 90 minutes.
Two yellow cards were issued in the game. One was given to Ouachita’s Connor Burke at the 53 minute mark, while the other was given to Hendrix’s Mukiza just five minutes later.
Ouachita returns to action on Friday, when they host Harding.
