ARKADELPHIA- The Ouachita Baptist Men’s Basketball team couldn’t keep up with the hot shooting West Georgia Wolves in the first game of 2010, losing 80-66 in a non-conference matchup at Bill Vining Arena in Arkadelphia on Friday.
Ouachita (3-8) shot 32 percent in the loss, while trailing 31-25 at half. West Georgia (6-5) finished with a 48 percent shooting effort, while holding the edge in rebounding, 44-32.
Freshman Olden Jordan led the Tigers with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, while sophomore Reggie Britton added 12 points off the bench. Freshman Julian LaDay scored 10 points, including a 4-of-4 effort from the free-throw line. Senior Belford Williams led Ouachita with nine rebounds, while also recording five points and two steals.
Ouachita shot 32 percent (21-of-64) overall, including 29 percent from three-point range (5-of-17) and 79 percent from the free-throw line (19-of-24).
West Georgia’s Gavin Field led all scorers with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Vojin Svilar added 16 points and John Pringle 14 points, respectively.
Ouachita Baptist returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 2 against West Alabama. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at Bill Vining Arena.
