Spring Fling gives students festivities to savor Spring, take school break

April 9, 2010

The semester is nearing its end. In the midst of all the studying, working and stress, Campus Activities seeks to give students a break to enjoy the spring weather. CAB’s Spring Fling is that break. Spring Fling will be held on Friday and Saturday.

“Spring Fling is an opportunity for everyone to put down the books and come out and enjoy the spring weather,” said Tim Harrell, director of campus activities. “Everything is free as always and this year there will be a few exciting changes.”

Friday there will be inflatables and an electric bull. Dinner will be on the lawn provided by the cafe.

“Friday at 8:30 p.m. CAB will be showing ‘Leap Year’ on the lawn,” said Madison O’Connor, junior political science and sociology major and president of Campus Activities. “Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and friends, and be ready for a good movie.”

O’Connor is in charge of delegating all the pieces of the puzzle to make Spring Fling what it is.

Saturday morning Tiger Serve Day happens and the festivities of Spring Fling will continue.

“After TSD the social clubs are going to come out with booths of fun,” O’Connor said. “The booths will include face painting, root beer floats, cake walks, snow cones and more.”

“Saturday will continue with Battle of the Bands with a grand prize of $200 for the winning band,” O’Connor said.

Bands will be made up of Ouachita students.

“The goal of Spring Fling is to provide an opportunity for students to fellowship and enjoy the weather. Please pray for good weather,” Harrell said.

“It’s going to be a great time for all the friends to come out and enjoy the weather,” O’Connor said. “All of Ouachita’s community is welcome to come out and enjoy Spring Fling.”

CAB will also be hosting Futuro Boots, a hip hop band on campus April 14.
