Shambarger Competition for Singers Honors Vocal Instructor, Awards Students

If you love music and enjoy a healthy competition, then be sure to stop by McBeth Recital Hall at 2:00 p.m. on February 22 for the Shambarger Competition.

This competition honors Mrs. Mary Shambarger, Professor Emerita of music at Ouachita Baptist University who served on the music faculty for 32 years.

Vocal students in their sophomore year and up are eligible to compete. This year’s repertoire focuses on Arias from Opera and Oratorio. The winner of the competition receives a $500 cash prize, the second place winner receives $300, the third place winner receives $200, fourth place gets $100 and Honorable Mention receives $50.
