ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Student Senate held elections last week to fill vacant seats for the 2009-2010 school year.
The executive committee, elected in the spring of 2009, includes Stephen Johnson, a senior accounting and finance double major from Brazil, as president; Beau Landers, a junior Biblical studies and speech communication double-major from Allen, Texas, as internal vice president; Laurent Nelson, a senior biology major from Russellville, Ark., as external vice president; Andrew Ford, a senior political science, finance and marketing triple-major from Arkadelphia, as treasurer; and Jacob Lively, a sophomore biology major from Royse City, Texas, as secretary.
Senior class officers include: Philip Williamson, a Christian theology, philosophy and political science triple-major from Batesville, Ark., as president; Philip Bridges, a marketing and finance double-major from Clarksville, Ark., as vice president; Molly Magee, a mass communications and Spanish double-major from Conway, Ark., as secretary; and Trey Baldwin, a political science major from Forrest City, as treasurer. Greg Schwartz, a theatre arts and mass communications double-major from Texarkana, Texas, fills position two and Amy Wentz, a mass communications major from Pine Bluff, Ark., fills position three. Megan Antley, a biology major from Fulton, Ark., joins Senate this year at position one, and Richard Atkinson, a mass communications and political science major from Arkadelphia, returns to Senate to fill position four.
Junior class officers include: Keeson Martin, a management and marketing double-major from Plano, Texas, as president; Bethany Whitfield, a history and secondary education double-major from Bryant, Ark., as vice president; Natalie Gregory, an early childhood education major from Jonesboro, Ark., as secretary; and Katie Osment, a history and Spanish double-major from Jonesboro, Ark., joins Senate as treasurer. Lori Hilburn, a mass communications and marketing double-major from Monticello, Ark., fills position one; John Mark Tohlen, a biology major from Grapevine, Texas, fills position two; and Keaton Harper and Justin Hodges join Senate to fill positions three and four, respectively. Harper is a church music major from Hope, Ark., and Hodges is a mass communications major from Stuttgart, Ark.
Sophomore class officers include: Hannah Pfeiffer, an early childhood education major from Benton, Ark., as president, and Mason Hayes, an accounting major from Cabot, as treasurer. Joining Senate this year are Cara McKinney as vice president and Chris Sumner as secretary. McKinney is a biology major from Hughes Springs, Texas, and Sumner is an instrumental music education major from Needville, Texas. Allison Grigsby, a mass communications major from Cabot, Ark., and Amanda Seeley, a Christian ministries major from Garland, Texas, fill positions two and three, respectively. Nate Wade, a business administration major from Big Sandy, Texas, and Hope Freel, a communication sciences and disorders major from Nashville, Ark., join Senate this year to fill positions one and four, respectively.
Freshman class officers are all new to Senate and include: Logan Hawkins, a pre-physical therapy major from Atlanta, Texas, as president; Nathan Huff from Jonesboro, Ark., as vice president; Dawn McNulty, an education major from Katy, Texas, as treasurer; and Ethan Day, a history major from Garland, Texas, as secretary. Filling positions one, two, three and four, respectively, are Jill Mitchell, a pre-nursing major from Texarkana, Texas; Stacy Beck, a political science major from Sheridan, Ark.; Bailey Nichols, a biology major from Little Rock; and Aubree Fry, a dietetics and nutrition major from Green Forest, Ark.
Filling Senate’s four at-large positions are Sarah Johnson, a senior political science major from Brazil; Megan Fida, a senior mass communications major from Allen, Texas; Mark Sumrall, a junior Biblical studies major from Tomball, Texas; and, new to Senate this year, Bethany Briscoe, a senior mass communications and graphic design double-major from Plano, Texas.
