MANHEIM, Penn. – As he enters his third year at the helm of the Ouachita wrestling program, Head Coach Kevin Ward has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Board of Directors.
““I’m honored that I was selected to serve on the NWCA Board of Directors as one of the two Div. II representatives,” noted Ward. “I am a believer in Mike Moyer and the NWCA as an organization. They work tirelessly to promote and grow our sport, and I look forward to being able contribute any way that I can.”
Ward joins six other new board members and is one of two Division II coaches on the board. After the seven recent additions, the Board of Directors is comprised of 38 members that include collegiate coaches and administrators as well as business leaders and affiliated governing bodies.
Ward said, “To have the opportunity to hold a leadership position in our sport is something I take seriously and I am proud to represent Division II.”
The NWCA is a non-profit organization that works for the advancement of all levels of the sport of wrestling with a primary emphasis on developing coaches who work in academic environments.
Ward has been actively involved in the NWCA National Convention for the past two summers and this past summer was asked to give a presentation on building a program from scratch. He also graduated from the NWCA Leadership Academy in 2010, which helps build essential CEO skills in wrestling coaches
