Ouachita to host Career Fair Bootcamp, Career Fair

March 1, 2013

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Office of Career Services will host its annual Career Expo on March 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Career Expo will host more than 50 organizations, schools and companies with representatives who will be talking to students about the opportunities that they offer, from graduate programs to internships to jobs.

“This is the ideal time to network with a variety of recruiters, ask good questions and hopefully make some great connections for future careers,” said Lauren Land, OBU’s director of career services. “Be sure to bring copies of your current resume and collect business cards from every recruiter you meet.”

“We anticipate nearly 60 participating groups, which is exciting,” Land added. “These run the gamut from competitive management training programs with such companies as Murphy USA and Sherwin Williams to graduate schools including Denver Seminary, Baptist Health Schools and the University of Arkansas School of Law.” There will also be representatives from a number of school districts attending the event, which will be beneficial to education majors. For a full list of participants, visit www.obu.edu/career.

Land encourages students of every classification to attend the Career Expo, noting that the earlier one begins to research jobs the easier the process will be during students’ senior year. Professional attire is required at this event.

In preparation for the Career Expo, Land will host a Career Expo Bootcamp to offer students tips on resumes, researching companies, how to dress and other ways to make the most of the Career Expo. This workshop will be held on Friday, March 1, at 12 noon in the Ouachita Commons Alumni Room.
