Two of Ouachita Baptist University’s music ensembles, Ouachita Sounds and Tiger Blast, will present a concert on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Jones Performing Arts Center on Ouachita’s campus.
The two ensembles will present this collaborative concert to showcase the vocal and instrumental work the groups have produced throughout the year.
Tiger Blast, under the direction of Robert Hesse, is an instrumental ensemble that draws from marching band, indoor color guard, marching percussion and theatre techniques. It is open to any Ouachita student.
Ouachita Sounds, under the direction of Mary Worthen, is an audition-based vocal ensemble. The group will be performing selections from ABBA’s Mamma Mia, as well as a jazz set including “Pink Panther,” “Sunny” and the “Mission Impossible” theme song. The concert will continue with a sacred set including “I Will Glorify Your Name,” “Here We Stand” and “There Is a Fountain.”
The members of Ouachita Sounds are Jon Cole, a senior music major from Dallas, Texas; Daniel Collier, a senior musical theatre major from Little Rock, Ark.; Lauren English, a junior mass communications major from Hot Springs, Ark.; Lindsey Forga, a senior mass communications major from Glenwood, Ark.; Elisabeth Hipp, a junior music major from Memphis, Tennessee; Kyle Huey, a senior musical theatre major from Grapevine, Texas; Leslyn Ichter, a junior music major from Conway, Ark.; and Michael Krikorian, a junior musical theatre major from Rockwall, Texas.
