Tomorrow night Ouachita Sounds will debut a unique show that is sure to be thrilling in every sense of the word.

Ouachita Sounds will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Fri., March 5 in the Jones Performing Arts Center (JPAC).The show will feature a variety of solo and ensemble pieces, dance performances and a special tribute to Michael Jackson.

Ouachita Sounds is an audition-based vocal ensemble including: Taylor Bass, a sophomore musical theatre major; Daniel Collier, a senior musical theatre major; Elisabeth Hipp, a senior vocal performance major; Leslyn Ichter, a senior choral music education major; Michael Krikorian, a senior musical theatre; Daniel McFarlin, a freshman music major; Ben Reeves, a senior church music major and Bethany Whitfield, a junior history major.

With very busy schedules, members have still been able to work hard during practices in order to ensure a great show for audiences.

“Our group is made up of some busy people,” Whitfield said. “I think one of the biggest challenges we face is just all being able to meet, practice and focus at the same time. It is totally worth it in the end though.
Ouachita Sounds has a reputation, and we desperately want to keep that top-notch.”

The practices and rehearsals required in order to make the show good can be time consuming, but Sounds’
members agree that all the extra time is worth it in the end.

“It’s always hard to get in time to put together a good show,” Krikorian said. “But it’s our job to be
professional and give it everything we have.”

Members have especially enjoyed rehearsing different sections of the Michael Jackson tribute.

“I personally love ‘Thriller,’” McFarlin said. “It has been so fun learning a dance I have seen for such a long
time.”

Audience members will not only be entertained, but will want to sing along as Sounds recounts many of Michael Jackson’s hit songs.

“If you like Michael Jackson it is something to look forward to,” Reeves said. “It has some of his hits as well as some songs that people might not recognize. It should be good.”

This show is something unique to look forward to that people of all ages will enjoy and is sure to be a memorable performance.

“I am really excited about the show,” Ichter said. “It’s such an honor to be able to perform with seven super talented people.”
