Ouachita scored six touchdowns, five of which came on the ground, as the Tigers held on to defeat Southeastern 42-40.
Ryan Polite found Franky Okafor for a 12-yard touchdown pass to make the score 42-40. The two-point conversion was no good as Devin Price broke up a throwback pass to the tight end.
Southeastern recovered the ensuing onside kick but with five seconds left, John Rachal sacked Polite and time ran out.
Southeastern scored four times in the second half, two of which where passes from Ryan Polite to Okafor and one was from Polite to Kaymon Farmer. Thomas Curry recovered a Ouachita fumble and returned it 73 yards for a Savage Storm touchdown.
In the second half, Ouachita scored twice, once on a Kris Oliver run from 20-yards out with 24 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Ke’Vontae Pope returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown with 9:53 remaining in the game.
Ouachita scored four of their six touchdowns in the first half. Kris Oliver and Brandon Marks both scored twice in the half.
Ouachita gained 313 total yards in the first half, with 233 coming on the ground. Quarterback Austin Warford rushed for over half of those yards, recording 133 on 7 carries.
Warford also completed just four passes for 80 yards.
Southeastern scored twice in the first half, coming off runs by Nelson Akinwande (3 yards out) and Ronnie Green (7 yards out).
Southeastern recorded 206 total yards in the first half (105 rushing, 101 passing).
Ouachita finished the game with 405 total yards, 309 coming on the ground. Warford finished 5 of 16 for 96 yards. He also rushed for 159 yards on 17 carries. Kris Oliver recorded 92 yards on 11 carries for the game, scoring three times. Brandon Marks also recorded 73 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns.
Southeastern finished with 487 yards with 367 coming through the air. Ryan Polite finished with 28 completions on 42 passes for 367 yards and three touchdowns. Akinwande and Green both scored for the Savage Storm as well. Akinwande finished with 19 yards on 7 carries, while Green finished with 69 yards on 19 carries.
