Ouachita Baptist University head softball coach Mike McGhee announced Monday the release of the 2009 schedule.
The Lady Tigers, which went 24-32 overall last season, will play 67 games, including 25 at Sully Anderson Field in the upcoming season.
Ouachita takes part in three classics this season and will endure the Gulf South Conference Crossover in Decatur, Ala., in April. The Lady Tigers open the season Feb. 6-8 at the Arkansas Tech Classic against Lincoln, Missouri-St. Louis and Southwest Baptist.
After a road game against Crichton on Feb. 10, Ouachita travels to Monticello, Ark., to take part in the Arkansas-Monticello Classic Feb. 13-15. The Lady Tigers will meet Quincy, Drury, Southern Indiana and Missouri Southern.
A road contest against Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff followed on Feb. 18, but Ouachita plays its first home series Feb. 24 at Sully Anderson Field against Central Baptist.
The Lady Tigers again take a trip to Monticello Feb. 27-March 1 for the Arkansas-Monticello Super 8 Classic. Ouachita will meet West Georgia, North Alabama and Lyon in the classic.
For just the second time in a month span, the Lady Tigers will play host to an opponent – Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff – on March 4 at Sully Anderson Field. Henderson State becomes the first Gulf South Conference opponent as Ouachita will head across the street to play a pair of conference doubleheaders.
After playing at Lyon and a pair of series’ against Arkansas Tech, Ouachita returns to Sully Anderson Field for 11 games in 12 days, starting March 17 against Crichton. The Lady Tigers will meet Southeastern Oklahoma State, Delta State and Arkansas-Monticello during that span.
The Gulf South Conference crossover begins April 2-5 in Decatur, Ala., as Ouachita will meet East Division foes West Georgia, No. 7 UAH, North Alabama, West Florida, Valdosta State and West Alabama.
After returning from the crossover, the Lady Tigers play 10 games in 12 days, beginning with back-to-back series’ against Southern Arkansas at Sully Anderson Field. Ouachita will face Hillsdale in a pair of doubleheaders, followed by Lyon.
The Lady Tigers conclude a very tough 67-game schedule in Memphis, Tenn., taking on Christian Brothers April 25-26.
