ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Sophomore vocal performance majors Grace Johnson from Tyler, Texas, and Elisabeth Hipp from Memphis, Tenn., will present their sophomore vocal performance recitals on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University.
Johnson will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s “Sul fil d’un soffio etesio” and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Hexenlied,” followed by Jacques Offenbach’s “Elle a fui, la tourterelle!” and Richard Pearson Thomas’ “I never saw a Moor.” She will conclude her portion of the recital with Richard Rodgers’ “Sing for Your Supper” from The Boys from Syracuse.
Hipp will perform Luigi Arditi’s “Il Bacio,” followed by Henri Duparc’s “L’Invitation au voyage” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Ach, ich fühls.” She will conclude her portion of the recital with Lori Laitman’s “Dreaming.”
During her time at OBU, Hipp has earned first place in the Mary Shambarger Competition for Singers as well as many awards at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions, including second place in sophomore women at the state level in 2009, semi-finalist in sophomore women and lower musical theatre at the regional level in 2008, third place in freshmen women and semi-finalist in lower musical theatre at the state level in 2008 and freshmen women and lower musical theatre semi-finalist at the regional level in 2007.
