ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Carrie Brown, a Knoxville, Ark., native, will present her senior piano performance recital Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University.
Brown has earned first place honors at the 2009 National Federation of Music Clubs student/collegiate auditions, the 2009 Hot Springs Music Club scholarship auditions and the 2008 Virginia Queen Piano Competition.
Brown will perform J.S. Bach’s “Prelude and Fugue in A-flat major, WTC I,” followed by Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37: I. Allegro con brio.” She will then play three selections by Frédéric Chopin: “Prelude Op. 28, No. 13,” “Etude Op. 25, No. 9” and “Ballade in F Major, Op. 38.” Brown will continue the recital with Béla Bartók’s “Suite Op. 14: I. Allegretto, II. Scherzo, III. Allegro Motto and IV. Sostenute.” She will conclude with Maurice Ravel’s “Le Tombeau de Couperin: VI. Toccata.”
