My Favorite 90s TV Shows

March 8, 2016

Right now, we’re experiencing somewhat of a 90s revival; successful spin-offs like Girl Meets World and Fuller House are sending us back to the good ol’ days. So, I thought I would share some of my favorite 90s and 00s TV shows. Who knows? They might be some of your favorites, too.

Back in the day, when there was no such thing as Netflix and Redbox, we watched these awesome TV shows (while they were actually on TV).

1. Rugrats

A kid’s show from the perspective of kids—everything is an adventure. These babies (and Angelica) had some pretty big imaginations. This classic Nickelodeon series started in 1990 and it was such a popular show that they made three Rugrats movies. According to IMDb, it ran for over 10 years with 10 seasons and 173 episodes.

 2. Powerpuff Girls

Sugar, spice, and everything nice—that’s what little girls are made of. However, there was one extra ingredient for these girls, Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles. And that extra ingredient gave them super powers. They became every girl’s favorite TV characters. This Cartoon Network series ran from 1998-2005 with 6 seasons and 81 episodes (IMDb).

 3. A Pup Named Scooby-Doo

This was probably the most beloved TV series of my childhood. It was such a good show because it featured the same lovable characters as the original Scooby-Doo show with the same mystery-solving story lines, just without the spooky stuff—which was perfect for the younger crowd. I never appreciated the real version as much as I did this one. Apparently, I only ever watched re-runs because it ran from 1988-1991 with 3 seasons and 27 episodes (IMDb).

4. Animaniacs

I really, really liked this one. Even though it had great humor and great stories, it just seems like it was so underappreciated. These three Animaniacs always seemed to find some mischief. Of course, they always invented some creative solutions, as well. According to IMDb, this show ran from 1993-1998 with 5 seasons and 99 episodes.

 5. Full House

“You got it, dude!” This is the show that introduced Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to the world. Their character, Michelle, was the ideal baby sister, was she not? Super cute, but super spunky, and she always pestered her older sisters. She was just so loveable, though. Premiering in 1987, this series lasted almost 10 years with 8 seasons and nearly 200 episodes. (IMDb)

I’m super glad that they brought the Tanner family back after all these years. You can watch their new show, Fuller House, on Netflix.

 6. Boy Meets World

Honestly, this is the only one that I didn’t watch when I was a kid. I’m pretty sure I found the series after age 10. But, it’s too good to leave out. Cory and Topanga were the ultimate childhood sweethearts. And the story lines were so relatable.

I think it’s great that they made Girl Meets World. It’s probably the best show on Disney channel.

 7. Out of the Box

I think just about everyone who watched Out of the Box wanted a club house like the one on the show, right? It was amazing. This show was really sort of different, but in a good way. It was almost like going to preschool or daycare, because they stuck to a schedule of activities and there were other kids, too. This show came on Playhouse Disney and it ran from 1998-2004 with a total of 34 episodes. (IMDb)

8. Slime Time

I have such great memories watching this show at my grandma’s house with my cousin. It was literally our favorite time of the afternoon. And to make the experience even more awesome, we would eat green jello and pretend that we were eating slime. It was great. This particular version came on Nickelodeon and ran from 1993-2004, according to IMDB. I’m really not sure why they quit producing this show. It was so good.

I hope you enjoyed reminiscing with me. They really don’t make good shows like these anymore, do they?
