When and where were you born?
March 16th, 1992 in Little Rock, AR.
Do you have any siblings? If so, what are their names and how old are they?
I have a 19 year old sister who attends OBU. Her name is Anna Hurst.
Where did you go to high school?
I went to Morrilton High School.
Were you involved in any extracurricular activities in high school? If so, which ones?
I was actively involved in the Music program at MHS. I played French horn in the band and participated in All-Region and All-State competitions.
Who was the most influential person in your life growing up? Why?
I have an extremely supportive family. Both of my parents encouraged me to pursue music and supported me throughout my journey. My mom always taught me to love musical expression and to analyze life through an artistic lens.
Why did you decide to come to Ouachita Baptist University?
My dad attended OBU. Consequently, I had always heard great things. Once I visited the campus and met the students and faculty, I decided this was the place for me.
What on-campus activities do you participate in at OBU?
I am a member of Kappa Chi, in which I serve as the philanthropic chair. I am on the Steering Committee for OSF, and I was recently elected to join Senate as a representative of the Senior class. I work with Lauren Land in Career Services, and I tutor students through the Academic Success Center. I am also a member of Alpha Chi and Pi Kappa Lambda.
What are your goals after graduation?
I plan to pursue a career in either public or private accounting. I haven’t yet decided for sure.
What is your ideal job?
I would love to work in a large metropolitan area. I could see myself pursuing a career in a variation of business/music related occupations.
Why did you decide to try out to be a Tiger Tunes hostess?
This is my second time hosting. I loved hosting the first time. I thought I might as well try again, and I was pleasantly surprised to be given the opportunity to host once again.
Did you look to anyone for advice as you thought about trying out? Who and why?
Having already hosted and also having directed a Tunes show, in some degrees I have gained a lot of independence. However, I always refer to friends for opinions and critiques. My sister accompanies me when I sing, so her opinion is the one I find to be most influential.
What was your reaction when you first learned you had been chosen as a hostess?
The very first time I was chosen, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that I had been picked at such a young age. The second time was equally exciting, but in a different way. I knew that hosting this time would be different, but I was also looking forward to working with a new group and performing new material.
What do you want people to remember most about the 2013 Tiger Tunes show?
I want people to remember the level of talent our group brought to the stage. We have been working extremely hard. Musically, I am convinced that this is the most talented group I have performed with thus far.
What has been the funniest experience so far as you all have been practicing for Tiger Tunes?
This group is simply hysterical. I have had a blast. There have been too many funny moments for me to choose a specific occurrence. Rehearsal in its entirety has been enjoyable and entertaining.
