Lady Tigers lead early, but Christian Brothers battles back for 3-2 victory

ARKADELPHIA- The Lady Tigers held a 2-1 advantage on Thursday night, but Christian Brothers battled back for a 3-2 Gulf South Conference Volleyball victory at the Sturgis Physical Education Center in Arkadelphia.

Ouachita (11-2, 0-2 GSC West) played well enough for a GSC victory against Christian Brothers (7-9, 2-0 GSC West), but the Lady Bucs came away with the 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 17-25, 10-15 win.

Leading the way for Ouachita was junior Libby Merritt who recorded 12 kills, while sophomore Allison Frizzell added 42 digs in a strong defensive effort for the Lady Tigers. Sophomore Megan Askew (11) and senior Kaitlyn Mitcham (10) also led Ouachita in kills, while junior Lexie Hegi (27) and senior Lauren Stuart (23) led Ouachita in assists.

For Christian Brothers, Michelle Hein had a strong performance with 15 kills, while teammate Kelsey Miles had 51 assists.

Ouachita returns to the court for GSC action against Arkansas-Monticello on Sept. 28 in Monticello at 7 p.m.
