Lady Tigers land two on All-GSC Women’s Soccer Team

ARKADELPHIA- Ouachita Baptist landed two players on the 2010 Gulf South Conference Women’s Soccer Team, as sophomore defender Mary Whisenhunt was named a First Team selection, while junior Beth Wendl earned a Second Team spot, officials announced on Wednesday.

Whisenhunt earns her first GSC accolade after starting in all 18 matches in 2010. The Little Rock, Arkansas native led Ouachita to five shutouts on the season, while also limiting five others to just a single goal. The sophomore also scored two goals and two assists.

Wendl earns her second postseason award after being named to the 2010 CoSida ESPN Academic All-District Third Team. The Plano, Texas native led the Lady Tigers with 12 goals and 13 assists, including a game-high of three goals in an 8-0 victory against LeTourneau, and recording three assists on three different occassions on the season.

West Florida’s Shakira Duncan was named GSC Player of the Year, while Argos Coach Joe Bartilinski was named GSC Coach of the Year. Adriana Lucar of Harding took home GSC Freshman of the Year honors.
