Lady Tigers improve to 5-1 on the season with 85-74 victory over Texas A&M-International

ARKADELPHIA- It wasn’t the prettiest of victories for Ouachita Baptist, but the Lady Tigers outlasted Texas A&M-International for a 85-74 victory to improve to 5-1 on the season in the first round of the 2010 ORR Auto HPER/AT Alumni Basketball Classic at Duke Wells Gym in Arkadelphia on Friday.

Ouachita (5-1) was aided by five players in double figures, forcing Texas A&M-International (1-6) into 29 turnovers on the night. In fact, both teams combined for 42 fouls and 53 turnovers on the night.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 38-33 lead at half, as junior Gabby Coleman scored 12 of her team-high 19 points in the half. Texas A&M-International shot impressively throughout at 48 percent overall, but Ouachita continually applied defensive pressure that eventually led to points off of turnovers.

Juniors A’Laeshia Adams and Domino Miller each recorded 15-point performances, while Adams added six rebounds and five assists. Junior Beulah Osueke and sophomore Breana Dillard each added 10 points in the victory.

Ouachita Baptist returns to action Saturday, Dec. 4 at Duke Wells Gym against Oklahoma Panhandle State at 1 p.m.
