ARKADELPHIA- You couldn’t have written a better ending to the 2010 season, as Ouachita Baptist easily defeated Houston-Victoria, 5-0, on Sunday in a non-conference women’s soccer match up in Arkadelphia.
Ouachita (8-8-2) was led yet again by junior Beth Wendl who had a hand in every goal scored, as the Plano, Texas native scored two goals and assisted on three others in the victory. Wendl entered the weekend as the fourth-leading scorer in the Gulf South Conference and finishes the season with a team-high 12 goals and 13 assists.
Wendl got the scoring entourage started at 9:41 in the first half off of a penalty kick that went past the Houston-Victoria keeper on the left side for a 1-0 Ouachita lead.
Ouachita sophomore Taylor Gay made it 2-0 at 19:59 with a left footed shot to the back left corner as Wendl and freshman Morgan Pitchford assisted on the play.
