Lady Tiger Softball finishes sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 11-3 victory

Ouachita finished the double header sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff with an 11-3 non-conference victory at Sully Anderson Field in Arkadelphia on Thursday.

Ouachita (6-1) moved the current win streak to five games with an offensive minded performance, as the Lady Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of play.

Ouachita senior Haley Chambers recorded a two-run double, scoring sophomore Jana Deen and junior Sarah Bell to led off the first inning.

A double from freshman Kayci Wilson continued the trend, as Deen recorded an RBI single two batters later.

Chambers knocked in two runs with a two-run double, scoring freshman Megan Askew and Deen on the play, giving the Lady Tigers a 5-0 lead.

After Arkansas-Pine Bluff jumped on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of third, Ouachita scored a run after sophomore Taylor Austin led off the inning with a double, scoring when freshman Bailey Sanders recorded an RBI single, stretching the lead to 6-2.

The fourth inning would be huge for the Lady Tigers, scoring five runs to take an 11-3 lead.

Ouachita recorded five hits in the inning, led by an RBI double from Chambers.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to end the scoring and seal the victory for the Lady Tigers.

Chambers led Ouachita at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance with 3 RBI.

Teammates Deen and Askew each recorded a 2-for-3 afternoon at the plate, while Austin and Wilson went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Wilson went the distance for Ouachita on the mound for the five inning outing, scattering five hits for three runs, all of them unearned. The freshman struck out four, while also recording four walks.

Ouachita return to the field Friday, Feb. 26, at the HSU Spa City Classic in Hot Springs. The originally scheduled Southeastern Oklahoma Tournament for the upcoming weekend has been cancelled due to field conditions.
