Ouachita Baptist University senior goalkeeper Whitley Hoppe earned Gulf South Conference women’s soccer Defender of the Week Sept. 29 as announced by conference officials.
Hoppe wins her first career award after blanking visiting Alabama-Huntsville Sunday as OBU claimed its first GSC win of the season in double overtime, 1-0. The junior from Houston, Texas is the first Lady Tiger to claim Defender of the Week accolades since 2007 after stopping six shots in 102 minutes against a Lady Chargers squad that netted three goals at Harding just two days earlier.
Ouachita (4-4, 1-1) takes on No. 2 West Florida in Pensacola, Florida on Friday.
