Henderson takes victories in intramural Battle of the Ravine

April 5, 2017

The Battle of the Ravine, a tradition that has been going on for decades, has taken a new form. The two schools not only play with their collegiate teams, but they also have the students involved in intramural sports compete with each other.  This happens at the end of each intramural season, with the champions of each school playing each other at the intramural Battle of the Ravine.  The winners of the women’s basketball leagues faced off on March 13. The women of EEE Hardcore represented OBU.

The team started with a few of its member missing and had a slow start to the game. By halftime, the score was 23-7, with Henderson in the lead.  Keylie Powell showed up after the half, and the EEEs gained momentum. By the end of the game, with two minutes and 30 seconds left in the half, the score was 42-20, but the EEE Hardcore was not going to go down without a fight. With such few minutes left in the game, the EEE Hardcore managed to close the gap.  In the end, though, Henderson came away with the win in this year’s women’s intramural basketball Battle of The Ravine.

Despite the loss, EEE Hardcore team captain Katelyn Young, a junior elementary education major from Fayetteville, said, “The season was so awesome.  We honestly just played to have fun every game, and that’s exactly what we did.  Being on this team has been one of my favorite parts of the semester.  I feel like I grew a lot closer to the girls on my team just through playing a few games here and there.  Overall, I loved this season and cherish all the girls a lot.”
