Chi Mu women’s social club will be hosting an Easter-themed event this Sunday, March 13, in the Tiger Den. There will be an Easter egg hunt, carnival-style games, and even an Easter bunny.
This event was planned by the club’s 2016 pledge class. In addition to being Chi Mu’s first campus event, this is the club’s first pledge class.
Olivia Witcher, a sophomore musical theatre major from Little Rock, Ark., is the president of PC ’16.
“It is a fundraiser for our club,” Witcher said. “It’s kind of also like a big debut of us, like here’s Chi Mu and we’re putting on an event; come have fun with us!”
The ladies would love to see lots of people come to their event; not only fellow college students, but also families from the community.
“I hope that they see our club and what we’re about,” Witcher said. “And I hope that we get like a good, fun vibe from everyone [who participates]. Even though we’re a new club . . . I hope that this makes us fit right in and helps us get accepted into the OBU club life.”
At the event children will have a great time egg hunting while their parents have opportunities to capture some fun photos. The middle school and high school crowd might enjoy playing some of the carnival games.
Despite all the kid-friendly activities, college students were also in mind in the planning of this event.
“There will be good prizes,” Witcher said. “And one of them may or may not be a Sonic gift card.”
Of course, this event is also expected to be a great experience for the club members themselves—especially this new pledge class.
“I hope that they see what being in a social club is all about,” Witcher said.
Since all of the girls are in this social club together for the first time, Witcher said that she hopes the group as a whole benefits from this event.
“I hope that we just really have fun with it and next year, we can give the next PC advice and grow with each other,” Witcher said.
Back in January, when she was beginning rush week, Witcher initially thought that she would probably not end up joining a social club.
“After the first night of rush I was like, ‘Ok. I actually like a couple of clubs,’” Witcher said. “So, I went from not wanting to pledge to wanting to pledge and being completely torn during rush and that’s how I was all week. And then, it was kind of like a God-thing; Chi Mu just kind of fell into my lap and it’s just been great since then. I feel like I just fit right in . . . It doesn’t really feel like a new club, it kind of feels like we were all meant to be; we’ve all been meant to be like a club for a long time and we are now.”
