Alyssa Reynolds to perform junior voice recital Oct. 7

October 1, 2011

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will present Alyssa Reynolds, a vocal performance major from Sanger, Texas, in her sophomore voice recital at 11 a.m. Oct. 7 in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on Ouachita’s campus. A reception will follow in Hammons Fine Art Gallery. The recital and reception are free and open to the public.

Reynolds has performed in Ouachita’s productions of Don Giovanni and Gianni Schicchi and was named a finalist in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Arkansas state auditions in 2011 and in the Classical Singer Competition in 2009. She has been a member of Ouachita Singers.

“Through all I have been involved in, I am finally realizing the vast difference between singing a piece of music and fully enveloping yourself into a piece of music,” Reynolds said. “This recital will not only explore my talents but it has made me put in a large amount of dedication and preparation required which has developed me as a performer, musician and vocalist.”

The showcase will present a varied selection of pieces beginning with “A des Oiseaux” by Georges Hüe, followed by “Dein blaues auge” by Johannes Brahms, Mozart’s “Un moto di gioja” and Carlisle Floyd’s “The Trees on the Mountains.” Reynolds will conclude with “Black Coffee” by Paul Francis Webster. Susan Monroe will accompany Reynolds on the piano.

“During my next few years at Ouachita, I strive to continue learning all I can spiritually and musically and apply that to multiple genres of music,” Reynolds said. “As a performer, musician and vocalist, my goal is to experience the music and impact others, and as a Christian, my goal is to impact others for Christ through song.”
