ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University will present artwork from the Arkadelphia public schools in the Hammons Gallery Monday, Feb. 15, through Thursday, Feb. 25. The gallery will display artwork from all grade levels of Arkadelphia’s public schools.

“We the art teachers of Arkadelphia have enjoyed doing the art show at OBU for quite some time,” said Amy Hornsby, an art teacher at Arkadelphia High School. “The show serves several purposes in that it allows students to exhibit for the first time, it bridges the gap between high school and college and it is a community relation builder.

“I really like to see our district art teachers work together for the show, and I love to see what my comrades are doing in the classroom,” Hornsby added. “It is nice to see the development of the art skills all in one show.”

Ouachita has been hosting this annual exhibit for several years. The event, started by Dr. Raouf Halaby, OBU professor of visual arts and English, has been coordinated in recent years by Donnie Copeland, OBU assistant professor of visual arts. For more information about the exhibit, contact Copeland at copelandd@obu.edu or (870) 245-5559.
