ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The Ouachita Baptist University Symphonic Band and Friends concert will be held on April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jones Performing Arts Center on Ouachita’s campus. The symphonic band is under the direction of Robert Hesse, associate director of bands.
The group will be performing the following program:
The Saxophone Quartet will open the concert with “Fast Walk” by Daniel Dorff, followed by the Flute Quartet performing Bjorn Axelsson’s arrangement of “Valflickans Dans, I Skogen” by Hugo Alfven. This will be followed by the Saxophone Sextet performing “Mixed Signals” by Alex Goff, a freshman music theory and composition student at OBU.
The Symphonic Band will continue the concert with “Spitfire!” by Gary P. Gilroy, “Forever Holding Close the Memories” by Richard L. Saucedo, “Synergies” by Robert Sheldon, “Solas Ane” by Samuel R. Hazo and “Rain” by Brian Balmages. The concert will conclude with “Canticles” by James Curnow.
