The Ouachita Baptist University softball team dropped a pair of Gulf South Conference West Division games Monday, falling 1-0 in nine innings in the opener to Arkansas Tech and dropping the second contest, 6-1, at the Chartwells Sports Complex.
In the opener, Arkansas Tech scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to get the 1-0 victory.
Kristen Rigsbee took the loss, going 8 1/3 innings. She gave up an unearned run, while scattering three hits and fanning eight for Ouachita (13-15, 2-6).
Casey Hammons earned the win, scattering three hits in nine innings with a pair of walks and eight strikeouts.
In the second contest, the Golden Suns (19-13, 5-3) scored a pair of runs in the first and one in the third to grab a 3-0 advantage. However, Ouachita chipped away at the deficit with a run in the top of the fifth.
With one out, Whitley Hoppe reached on a bunt single in the frame. She stole second and scored on Nikki Bain’s single through the right side.
Arkansas Tech put the game away with three in the bottom of the inning.
Rigsbee started, lasting a 1/3 of an inning. She gave up two runs (both unearned) on two hits. Crystal Robinson went 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and Sara Hanson closed the game with two innings. She had a walk and a pair of strikeouts.
Morgan Rodgers picked up the win, going seven innings. She gave up a run on seven hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Ouachita returns to action 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 20 at Sully Anderson Field against Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Lady Tigers then take on Delta State in a four-game Gulf South Conference West Division series at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21 at Sully Anderson Field.
