The men’s baseball team has proven why they won the Division II Championship last year. “They go above and beyond what is asked of them at practice,” said Amber Vincent, the baseball team’s athletic trainer.
The team, which is currently 12-5 had an interesting twist to its season when a new head coach took over.
“Coach Moddelmog is very aggressive offensively and gets innings going,” said senior Jarod Hershberger. “His offensive mindset puts us in the situation to score runs … we [the team] were very open to his philosophy.”
While adjusting to a new coach can sometimes be hard, the 12 seniors on the team play very important roles this season.
“The seniors know what it takes to win at this level and they work very hard towards the goal,” Vincent said.
Coming back with Division II championship rings, the seniors know what it takes to win games and championships and the attitude that one must have to get the job done.
“Once we started playing, I realized we have a chance [this year],” Hershberger said. “We need to come to work every day … we have a shot.”
The team will play tomorrow against Wisconsin Parkside.
“We should win five games [out of five] this weekend,” Hershberger said.
