A good friend once told me, “Spend the money. Get yourself a good meal. Sometimes you just need it.” That quote has stuck with me for a while now. Whether or not it is a good thing will be determined later, but for now, I think I will keep taking that advice. It can be hard to find a good place to eat in Arkadelphia or Caddo, but we do have a few decent options to choose from. We have Tasty Hibachi, Fat Boy’s, and Allen’s BBQ to name a few. And now we have another good option!
The Flying Burger opened up in December. They are located in Caddo, beside Cracker Barrel and across from the Pilot station. It is hard to miss their bright, almost shiny, new building. They have a red and blue theme that is loud and almost animated, but their loyalty to the color scheme adds a light-hearted, enjoyable atmosphere to the busy restaurant. When I was eating there with some friends, one girl said, “I kind of feel like I am at Disney World or something because it’s so themed!”
Not only do they have a fun, inviting atmosphere going on, but they have some tasty food, which is the whole reason you left campus right? The name of the restaurant is “Flying Burger,” so naturally I chose to try out the burger when I visited. I was not at all disappointed. It was perfectly cooked, and seasoned just right. In describing it, I would compare it somewhat to a David’s burger if you have eaten one of those. The fries were decent, but not my favorite. I love a good crispy fry. One that is barely crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Theirs were just soft.
If burgers aren’t your thing, don’t worry. You’re in luck because the Flying Burger has an array of choices on their menu. You can choose chicken strips, shrimp, grilled chicken sandwiches and even wings. I have eaten at The Flying Burger once in Arkadelphia, and a few times in El Dorado, and I have never been disappointed by my meal. Likewise, everyone I have eaten with has only had good things to say about their meal.
The workers are friendly, and the service is fast. The worst part about this restaurant is they are not open on Sundays. I love to go out to eat with friends after church, and it makes me a little bummed I can’t stop by and get a good burger, but I highly respect restaurants who observe the Sabbath.
The prices are fair. It’s more expensive than McDonald’s or Taco Bell, so don’t walk in expecting a $3 meal, but it is not unreasonably expensive. You get what you pay for.
Also, there are lots of tables and chairs, and booths, but it may not be the easiest place for you and forty of your best friends to all go eat at once, because it is a fairly busy place during meal times.
If you have not tried The Flying Burger yet, I highly suggest going out one night this week. Go ahead, spend that money and get yourself a good meal. You deserve it.
