Ouachita Baptist University senior guard Jaranimo Marks was named Tuesday the Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week in men’s basketball.
Marks, a native of Arkadelphia, Ark., earned his third career award after leading Ouachita to a pair of victories by averaging 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in 35.5 minutes. He also shot 46.7 percent from the floor and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.
The senior led the Tigers to a 66-59 win at Texas A&M-Commerce, playing all 40 minutes and posting a double-double behind game-highs in scoring (28 points) and rebounding (tied, 12). Marks, who climbed into No. 13 in the all-time career points list, surpassing David Kossover with 1,043 points, capped the week with 15 points and seven boards in a 69-51 home victory over Central Baptist.
West Florida’s Josh Jackson was tabbed the GSC East Division Player of the Week.
The Tigers return to action, 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29 in Durant, Okla., to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State.
