Abby Brumley was awarded second place in chemistry and biochemistry at the Arkansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence in Fayetteville Nov. 8.
Her presentation, entitled “Investigating the Molecular Dynamics of Oxidative Metabolism of 4-nitroanisole with CYP2E1,” was the product of her research work during the past summer in the Patterson Summer Research Program.
Her research mentor is Dr. Marty Perry at Ouachita, and the work is also in collaboration with Dr. Grover Miller in the Biochemistry Department at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Brumley is a senior chemistry major from Arkadelphia. She plans to attend medical school upon graduation and pursue a career as an ophthalmologist.
