October 28, 2008

The Ouachita Baptist University men’s soccer team closed out the home portion of the schedule with a 3-1 victory over Central Baptist during Senior Day at the OBU Soccer Complex.

The Tigers (3-6-1) broke the scoreless tie in the 17th minute as Kyle Sun’s left-footed shot on a free kick about 25-yards out found the back of the net, giving Ouachita a 1-0 lead. The Tigers added to the margin in the 40th minute as Sun’s cross from the right side found the head of Victor Romero and into the goal to give Ouachita a 2-0 advantage.

Central Baptist cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 56th minute as Kyle Troutman scored on an assist by Austin Lamb.

Ouachita got the two-goal lead back in the 78th minute as Sun’s through ball found Drew McCorkindale, who took two dribbles and fired it past Mustangs goalkeeper Chance Murphy for the goal.

Neal Ozmun recorded six saves for Ouachita, while Murphy had four.

Ouachita concludes the season 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31 at Harding in a Gulf South Conference match.
