Over the weekend, a group of kinesiology students created a grappling event for a class project. The event was held in the heart of Arkadelphia at Titan MMA gym owned by P.J. Bonner.
The event was open to the public and all ages could grapple. Grappling consist of submission moves and making your opponents tap. There were contestants from ages 4-56 years old.
Titan MMA & Fitness is located behind burger barn on Pine Street. They train people whowant to learn how to grapple. They also are an MMA gym so they offer multiple kinds of fighting skills such as Taesa, self defense, PJ Bonner, MMA, Kick boxing, Jiu Jitsu,instructor, and boxing.
A group of students in Dr. Mike Reynolds’ from OBU were referees for each of the matches. There was a time keeper for the three-minute matches. There were about 30-40 competitors.
“It started out a little hectic but once it got going it ran pretty smooth and everybody who competed loved it and would like to do it again,” said Austin Evans. Austin is in the group that planned the event.
