ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s 2009 Ouachitonian yearbook has been featured in Jostens’ 2010 Gotcha Covered Look Book, Volume 8. The book features outstanding design and content from leading yearbooks across the nation and is a popular resource for yearbook staffs seeking creative ideas, trends and inspiration.
The Ouachitonian was one of 518 yearbooks chosen from more than 3,000 submitted to a panel of judges that included nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisers. It is one of 228 chosen for its outstanding cover.
The 2009 Ouachitonian was the 100th edition of Ouachita’s yearbook, and it has already been recognized for overall excellence as a Gold Medalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in New York City. Audra Hinson, a 2009 Ouachita graduate from Little Rock with a double major in mass communications and Spanish, was the editor-in-chief of the winning 2009 yearbook.
“The 2009 cover blended the old with the new as we celebrated the 100th edition of the book,” said Dr. Deborah Root, chair of OBU’s department of mass communications and faculty advisor for the yearbook. “I’m excited that the staff has been honored for its hard work and dedication in recording the university’s history.”
“Yearbook staffers exemplify the incredible design, photography and journalistic talents of today’s students and their ability to capture once-in-a-lifetime stories that will be relished for generations,” said Gary Lundgren, Jostens senior program manager/education. “The yearbooks chosen for Jostens’ 2010 Gotcha Covered Look Book reflect the sophistication and relevance of yearbook programs and demonstrate why yearbooks remain so popular among students as a means to capture and share their school experiences and traditions.”
Root and the yearbook staff received a copy of the Look Book and a certificate from Jostens to recognize their outstanding achievement.
